Sony may increase the price of PlayStation Plus
Sony is not planning to increase the price of PS5. However, it looks like the cost of PlayStation Plus subscription may increase. While the price of the PS5 has increased in some regions over the past year, the recent memory shortage has created some new problems for manufacturers. But, it seems that Sony will not be affected by supply issues. Sony CFO Lin Tao announced during an earnings call that the company has already secured sufficient memory supply for this year, meaning console production will not be disrupted.

But, Sony has an interesting plan to offset the additional costs due to rising memory prices. Instead of passing the burden of increased prices on to console buyers, it wants to raise the price of PlayStation Plus subscriptions. The move may upset customers, but the PS5 will undoubtedly remain an attractive option for gamers. Tao also hinted that Sony may launch an affordable PS5 model to meet demands while keeping the price low. This could be interesting, given that GTA 6 is set to release in November 2026, and could help drive more console sales.

Steam allows users to add their PC specifications to reviews
Valve is making a significant change to the user review system on Steam. This will give users the option to add their own hardware specifications to their game reviews. This can prove to be a very useful feature, as it can help potential buyers check whether a game will run on their PC or not. This will ultimately contribute to their purchasing decision. This feature is currently being tested in the beta version of the Steam desktop client. The option to add PC specs to Steam reviews can also help users understand about performance issues that may be related to hardware limitations, or perhaps caused by poor optimization.
valve says He is also testing the option to provide anonymized framerate data for users. This option will help Steam collect gameplay framerate data without connecting it to users’ accounts, which in turn will help Steam learn about game compatibility and improve the store. But, this feature is currently limited to devices running on SteamOS.
Free YouTube Music users lose access to song lyrics
YouTube has made changes to its music streaming service due to which users are angry. Free accounts no longer have access to lyrics On stage. Several users on Reddit reported that they saw a card at the top of the screen stating that the songs were not available, and also mentioned that there were 0 views remaining. Free users can access 5 songs for free, after which they lose access to the feature unless they pay for a YouTube Music Premium subscription. Spotify offers songs for free users, so it’s a little strange that YouTube Music has decided to lock this feature behind a paywall.

But this isn’t entirely surprising, considering the fact that YouTube started testing this change in September 2025. YouTube’s parent company Alphabet had reported revenue of $400 billion in the last quarter of 2025. While most of the revenue comes from Google’s advertising business, YouTube has been steadily contributing to its money making due to its anti-ad-blocker stance and aggressive marketing of YouTube Premium. The Mountain View company likely hopes that locking the songs behind a paywall will entice more people to opt for a subscription, it remains to be seen if this plan will work.
The European Commission suffered a security breach in January
The European Commission revealed that it was victim of security breach Last month. The commission said in a report published on its website that the cyber attack was detected on January 30. The attackers targeted the central infrastructure used to manage mobile devices. Reports indicate that the attackers may have gained access to the names of employees and mobile numbers of some employees. The incident was contained, and the system was purged within 9 hours, and no equipment was found to have been tampered with.
The European Commission did not provide details about the attack. Just a day before the security breach, US security firm, Ivanti, had revealed that some zero-day vulnerabilities had been found in Ivanti EPMM. This is the MDM platform that is used by the European Commission, so there is a good chance that this was the exploit that the attackers targeted. Ivanti has already patched the security vulnerabilities.
